Who will be more prone to acne and pimples during pregnancy?


Well, we must admit that one woman in every two women suffer from varied levels of acne during pregnancy. While many experience mild pimples during their pregnancy, few undergo much more complex problems. Those with a history of pimples and acne will be more prone to acne and pimples during this period.

Which is the time when one may have pimples during pregnancy?

Usually pimples or acne happen during the first trimester which usually disappears within the third trimester. If you do not get pimples in the first trimester, it is very rare that you will get them in the next two trimesters. Usually in the first trimester, the body goes through a lot of changes like hormone imbalance which gives rise to acne problem.

What causes pimples and acne during pregnancy?

Well, hormones are usually the main cause for pimples and acne. First of all, when one goes through the adolescent years, they face some hormonal imbalance which causes pimples at that time. Similarly when a woman expects, she experiences a massive hormonal change and it results in acne.

So what can you do to keep the pimples during early pregnancy at bay or how to tackle them?

First of all, maximum cases of pimples and acne during pregnancy are usually mild and seldom become severe. So you may not even need to do anything as it will slowly stop on its own. But if the pimples become severe, then you need to consult your doctor and state that you are expecting. The main concern here is the fact that acne and pimple medications are external as well as internal pills and both can cause problems to your unborn child. Many harmless looking medicines and ointments may create birth defects so always check with the doctor and ask for his opinion.
Some tricks to heal acne/pimples in a natural and harmless way?
Acne and pimples on face during pregnancy can really drive people crazy and those with a history of acne will face this condition quite naturally. So if you are expecting and experiencing regular acne and pimple breakouts, here are some quick home remedies which are easy to use on a regular basis as well as safe for your baby:

  • Lemon is renowned for its natural pimple fighting ingredient and this is the reason why it is included in so many pimple reduction products. What you need to do is squeeze a freshly cut lemon halve and store the juice in an airtight sealed container. Apply it in the night before going to bed using a small tip. Apply the juice over every individual pimple. If you find raw lemon juice too strong, you can dilute it with water. Do not use lemon on the whole face as it will irritate your skin.  Use this technique twice or thrice a day and you will see a difference within one week.
  • Aloe Vera gel is a wonderful natural remedy which work wonders for a variety of skin as well as hair problems. Aloe Vera gel helps to reduce acne and pimples effectively.
  • Essential oils like lavender essential oil as well as tea tree oil works great to reduce acne and pimples.

Each person’s skin is different, so what works for many may not work for you. Do try all of the tricks to see what suits you the best. Also we suggest, you do not prick pimples, keep the skin clear and avoid touching your face too many times so that germs in your hands do not contact your face.
